3 Days, 3 Ways Joe Lombardo Dodges Accountability: Record High Gas Edition
While Joe Lombardo refuses to debate Attorney General Aaron Ford, NV Dems is launching a new series to highlight some of the many ways he’s dodged accountability for his cost-of-living crisis. On day one, we’re calling out Lombardo’s quick embrace of Donald Trump’s endless war with Iran that continues to jack up gas prices.
Since Lombardo backed Trump’s war, Nevada’s average gas price has climbed to $5.34 a gallon and diesel reached $6.84 — an all-time high. Yet, No Show Joe doubled down on his support for Trump’s war, signing a letter urging Congress to spend even more taxpayer dollars on this reckless conflict that is continuing to drive up costs.
“Instead of fighting to lower Nevadans’ gas costs, Joe Lombardo is only focused on being Donald Trump’s doormat,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland. “It’s been over a week since Attorney General Aaron Ford accepted debates to bring his message of lowering costs directly to voters and Joe Lombardo is still hiding behind Trump.”

KOLO 8: Gas prices come to Nevada’s Gubernatorial race
Key points below:
- “I had to stop working so much because I am a delivery driver,” says Lizette Arroyo, a Reno resident. “So, I had to cut down an all of that…ridiculous, extremely high.”
- At his press conference on Friday, Nevada Democratic gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford said there’s a trickle-down effect with gas prices.
- It costs us all to travel to and from work, or family activities. A person may go without a prescription so the rent can get paid, and the gas tank can be filled.
- “Four years ago, as Lombardo was running for governor, gas prices hovered around $4.68 a gallon,” Ford says. “During that time-period he tweeted that gas prices were harming Nevada families. And that we needed and I quote: “leadership that ensures our families and businesses are protected from these disastrous policies,” unquote. But once he got into office, Joe Lombardo stopped fighting for us, in Nevada. He started working for Trump full time.”
- Ford says Lombardo backs the war with Iran even when everyone knew what would happen to gas prices.
- Ford says as governor he’ll be working for Nevadans full-time – and not Donald Trump.
